The Only Work God Wants

January 11th, 2015 · No Comments

John 6:28-29 (New Living Translation)

28 They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?”

29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

The crowds came to Jesus. They wanted to know what they could and should do. Jesus tells them about the only work God wants:

Believe in the one he has sent

Gosh. There has to be more than this. Gosh. Isn’t that such a over-achieving, goal-driven, works-driven response? I feel like the general who was told to go wash in a river to be cleansed and healed. Surely God wants me to do more than that?

Perhaps I don’t fully understand what it means to believe. God help me in my unbelief.
