Learning Treachery from Saul—Choosing Our Teachers

July 2nd, 2017 · No Comments

1 Samuel 18:17 (New Living Translation)

17 One day Saul said to David, “I am ready to give you my older daughter, Merab, as your wife. But first you must prove yourself to be a real warrior by fighting the Lord’s battles.” For Saul thought, “I’ll send him out against the Philistines and let them kill him rather than doing it myself.”

Sound familiar. Saul had an idea. He could indirectly kill David by sending him into battle where no one would suspect…

Years later, David sent Uriah, husband of Bathsheba, into battle where no one would suspect…

Coincidence? Perhaps not. We all  choose our teachers. We all choose persons from whom we will learn things. Are we learning the wrong things from the wrong teachers? We certainly have lots of bad-teacher candidates available.
