Contemplative Bible Reading

¹ Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts.
They have no fear of God at all.
² In their blind conceit,
they cannot see how wicked they really are.
³ Everything they say is crooked and deceitful.
They refuse to act wisely or do good.
⁴ They lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots.
Their actions are never good.
They make no attempt to turn from evil.

Here is a description of “the wicked.” Reading these words chills me. Notice, there is no blood, no gore, no cutting off heads, and such in this description. There is much worse than those graphic descriptions. Here we have sin whispering in the heart, no respect for Jehovah God, and no attempt to turn from evil.

Chilling.

What is more frightful are the moments when I find myself delving in such. Chilling.

God, forgive me. God, thank you for your grace.
